TaskHero is a full-stack family productivity application that allows parents to create and manage tasks, assign rewards, track progress, and give children a simple way to complete responsibilities and earn virtual coins through a dedicated child experience.
Overview
TaskHero is a family-oriented task and rewards application designed to make everyday responsibilities more structured, engaging, and motivating for children.
The platform gives parents control over task creation and family management while providing children with a simplified experience where they can view assigned tasks, submit completion proof, and earn virtual rewards.
Mobile App Development
The iOS application was developed using Swift and SwiftUI with a structured navigation and session flow supporting both parent and child experiences.
The application includes dedicated onboarding, authentication, family joining, and role-based interfaces, with separate session states for parents and children to create a clear and secure experience on shared or individual devices.
Backend Architecture
The backend was developed with NestJS, TypeScript, Prisma, and PostgreSQL using a modular architecture designed around families, members, tasks, submissions, wallets, rewards, subscriptions, and device sessions.
REST API endpoints were designed to support authentication, authorization, family access control, task management, child sessions, and future expansion of the rewards and subscription systems.
Authentication & Family System
TaskHero uses role-aware authentication for parents and children, with JWT-based authorization and dedicated access flows for each user type.
Parents can manage family access, while children can join a family using a generated invite code. Child sessions are stored securely on-device and support multiple devices while maintaining separate session identities.
Cloud Infrastructure & Deployment
The application backend and database architecture were prepared for production deployment using Railway and Supabase, with PostgreSQL serving as the primary relational database and cloud storage planned for user-generated content such as task submission images.
The project includes separate development and production environments, API configuration, database migrations, and deployment workflows designed to support continued feature development and scaling.
Product Experience
The product combines task management with gamification by connecting completed responsibilities to virtual coins, rewards, and future in-app store functionality.
The experience was designed around a simple family workflow: parents assign responsibilities, children complete and submit tasks, and progress can be reinforced through rewards rather than relying solely on traditional task lists.
